Where is Plain City Located?

Plain City is a city located in Weber County, Utah, the United States. It lies in northern Utah on the western side of the Wasatch Front, about 10 miles northwest of Ogden and roughly 45 miles north of Salt Lake City. West Haven is around 5 miles south, while Farr West is about 5 miles east. Plain City is positioned near 41.298° North latitude and 112.087° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 8,700 residents. The city covers about 6.17 square miles, or 15.98 square kilometers. Plain City was settled by Mormon pioneers in the mid-19th century and developed as an agricultural community. Farms, orchards, pastures, and open fields remain important parts of the landscape, although residential development has increased as the Ogden area has grown. The Wasatch Mountains rise east of the city and provide a prominent scenic backdrop. The Great Salt Lake lies to the west, while wetlands and agricultural areas extend across the surrounding plain. A unique fact about Plain City is its long history as a planned pioneer settlement, with the original community laid out in a regular grid. The city was incorporated in 1933.
