Ravenna is a city located in Portage County, Ohio, the United States. It lies in northeast Ohio, about 15 miles east of Akron and roughly 35 miles southeast of Cleveland. Kent is around 8 miles northwest, while Streetsboro is about 12 miles north. Ravenna is positioned near 41.158° North latitude and 81.242° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 11,323 residents. The city covers about 5.66 square miles, or 14.66 square kilometers. Ravenna was founded in 1799 and incorporated as a village in 1824 before becoming a city. It was named the county seat when Portage County was established in 1808. The historic downtown area developed around the county courthouse and remains an important civic center.
