Ravenna is a city located in Portage County, Ohio, the United States. It lies in northeast Ohio, about 15 miles east of Akron and roughly 35 miles southeast of Cleveland. Kent is around 8 miles northwest, while Streetsboro is about 12 miles north. Ravenna is positioned near 41.158° North latitude and 81.242° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 11,323 residents. The city covers about 5.66 square miles, or 14.66 square kilometers. Ravenna was founded in 1799 and incorporated as a village in 1824 before becoming a city. It was named the county seat when Portage County was established in 1808. The historic downtown area developed around the county courthouse and remains an important civic center. Ravenna's location also places it close to several natural areas, including West Branch State Park, which surrounds a large reservoir and offers boating, fishing, hiking, camping, and wildlife viewing.
