Rittman is a city located in Wayne County, Ohio, the United States. It lies in northeast Ohio, about 20 miles southwest of Akron and roughly 10 miles northeast of Wooster. Wadsworth is around 8 miles north, while Medina is about 15 miles northwest. Rittman is positioned near 40.978° North latitude and 81.782° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 6,161 residents. The city covers about 5.04 square miles, or 13.05 square kilometers. Rittman was settled in the early 19th century and incorporated as a village in 1892 before becoming a city in 1955. The community developed around agriculture, rail transportation, and local manufacturing. Its location along the Chippewa Creek watershed and near the historic Ohio & Erie Canal helped shape its early transportation and commercial activity. Today, Rittman retains a small-town atmosphere while remaining within easy driving distance of Akron, Cleveland, and other northeast Ohio communities.
