Urbana is a city located in Champaign County, Ohio, the United States. It is in west-central Ohio, about 45 miles west of Columbus and 25 miles northeast of Dayton. Urbana lies at approximately 40.108° North latitude and 83.752° West longitude. The city had 11,115 residents in the 2020 Census and covers about 7.71 square miles, or 19.97 square kilometers. Urbana was founded in 1805 and became the county seat when Champaign County was established. The city developed along important early transportation routes and later became connected with the railroad and aviation industries. The Champaign Aviation Museum is one of the area's best-known attractions and focuses on the history of aviation and aircraft restoration. Urbana is also close to the Mad River and several parks and rural landscapes. Its central location provides convenient road access to Columbus, Dayton, Springfield, and other communities in west-central Ohio.
