Wadsworth is a city located in Medina County, Ohio, the United States. It is in northeastern Ohio, about 15 miles west of Akron and approximately 35 miles south of Cleveland. Wadsworth lies at about 41.025° North latitude and 81.729° West longitude. The city had 24,007 residents in the 2020 Census and covers about 11.22 square miles, or 29.06 square kilometers. Wadsworth was founded in 1814 and named for General Elijah Wadsworth, an important figure in early Ohio history. The city developed as a farming, manufacturing, and transportation center and later became part of the growing Akron-Canton region. Historic downtown Wadsworth contains older commercial buildings, public spaces, and local landmarks. The city also has several parks and recreational areas, including Silver Creek Metro Park nearby.
