It is in southwestern Ohio along the Great Miami River, about 7 miles southwest of downtown Dayton, 3 miles north of Miamisburg, and approximately 10 miles east of Germantown. West Carrollton lies at about 39.672° North latitude and 84.252° West longitude. The city had 13,964 residents in the 2020 Census and covers about 6.26 square miles, or 16.21 square kilometers. West Carrollton was settled in the 19th century and developed as a mill, manufacturing, and transportation community along the Great Miami River. The river and the Miami and Erie Canal helped shape its early economy.
