Willard is a city located in Huron County, Ohio, the United States. It is in north-central Ohio, about 20 miles south of Lake Erie, 15 miles southwest of Norwalk, and approximately 25 miles east of Sandusky. Willard lies at approximately 41.053° North latitude and 82.727° West longitude. The city had 5,084 residents in the 2020 Census and covers about 4.84 square miles, or 12.54 square kilometers. Willard developed as a railroad community during the 19th century and became an important shipping point for agricultural products from the surrounding countryside. Rail transportation remains an important part of the city's history. The area around Willard is largely rural, with farms, wooded areas, and small communities spread across the northern Ohio landscape. Nearby attractions include Seneca Caverns, the Milan Historic District, and the Lake Erie shoreline.
