It is in western Washington's Puget Sound region, about 20 miles northeast of downtown Seattle, 10 miles north of Bellevue, and approximately 8 miles east of Bothell. Woodinville lies at approximately 47.754° North latitude and 122.164° West longitude. The city had 13,069 residents in the 2020 Census and covers about 5.62 square miles, or 14.56 square kilometers. Woodinville was incorporated in 1993 and developed from a rural settlement and agricultural community in the Sammamish Valley. The area was historically associated with farming, logging, and transportation along the Sammamish River.
