Where is Wooster Located?

Wooster is a city located in Wayne County, Ohio, the United States. It is in northeastern Ohio, about 55 miles south of Cleveland, 30 miles southwest of Akron, and approximately 25 miles west of Canton. Wooster lies at approximately 40.805° North latitude and 81.940° West longitude. The city had 27,232 residents in the 2020 Census and covers about 17.10 square miles, or 44.29 square kilometers. Wooster was founded in 1808 and incorporated in 1817. It became the county seat of Wayne County and developed as an important center for agriculture, manufacturing, education, and regional commerce. The College of Wooster was established in 1866 and remains an important part of the city's cultural and educational life. Ohio State University's Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, now part of the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, is also located in Wooster and supports agricultural research and education. The surrounding landscape includes rolling farmland, wooded areas, and small streams typical of northeastern Ohio.
