East Grand Rapids is a city located in Kent County, Michigan, the United States. It is immediately east of Grand Rapids in western Michigan and is part of the Grand Rapids metropolitan area. The city is about 4 miles east of downtown Grand Rapids and lies near Ada, Forest Hills, and Grand Rapids Township. East Grand Rapids is located at approximately 42.94° North latitude and 85.61° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 11,995 residents. The city covers about 3.40 square miles (8.81 square kilometers), including approximately 3.27 square miles of land and 0.13 square miles of water. Reeds Lake is the city's most prominent geographic feature and has long shaped local recreation and development. East Grand Rapids was incorporated as a city in 1930 after developing as a residential community east of Grand Rapids.
