It lies in central Michigan along the Grand River, about 20 miles south of Lansing and roughly 25 miles northeast of Jackson. Charlotte, the Eaton County seat, is about 14 miles northwest. Eaton Rapids is located at approximately 42.509° North latitude and 84.655° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 5,076 residents. The city covers about 3.48 square miles, or 9.01 square kilometers.
