Ecorse is a city located in Wayne County, Michigan, the United States. It lies along the western bank of the Detroit River in southeastern Michigan, directly south of Detroit and near the Canadian border. Downtown Detroit is about 9 miles north, while Dearborn is roughly 7 miles northwest and Wyandotte is about 3 miles south. Ecorse is located at approximately 42.24° North latitude and 83.15° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 9,753 residents. The city covers about 3.46 square miles, or 8.96 square kilometers. Its position along the Detroit River played a major role in its industrial growth, especially in steelmaking, shipbuilding, and river transportation.
