Eufaula is a city located in Barbour County, Alabama, the United States. It sits in southeastern Alabama on the western shore of Lake Eufaula, a large reservoir formed by the Chattahoochee River. Eufaula is about 85 miles southeast of Montgomery, 45 miles north of Dothan, and just west of the Georgia border. The city lies at approximately 31.892° North latitude and 85.146° West longitude. Eufaula covers about 73.27 square miles, or 189.76 square kilometers, including land and water. The 2020 Census recorded 11,947 residents, while the 2023 population estimate was about 11,475. Eufaula stands at an elevation of roughly 207 feet above sea level. The city's historic district contains many well-preserved antebellum and Victorian-era homes. Lake Eufaula and the nearby Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge are major natural attractions, giving the city a strong connection to boating, fishing, wildlife, and outdoor recreation.
