Fenton is a city located in Genesee County, Michigan, the United States. It lies in southeastern Genesee County, about 15 miles southwest of Flint, 20 miles southeast of Saginaw, and roughly 55 miles northwest of Detroit. Fenton is positioned at approximately 42.797° North latitude and 83.705° West longitude. The city covers about 7.61 square miles, or 19.71 square kilometers, including land and water. The 2020 Census recorded 11,050 residents, while the 2023 population estimate was about 11,300. Fenton stands at an elevation of roughly 900 feet above sea level. The city developed around the Shiawassee River and a group of inland lakes, including Lake Fenton, Silver Lake, and Lake Ponemah. Its historic downtown features older commercial buildings, local restaurants, shops, and community spaces.
