Fife is a city located in Pierce County, Washington, the United States. It lies in the South Puget Sound region, about 6 miles east of downtown Tacoma, 4 miles south of Federal Way, and roughly 35 miles south of Seattle. Fife is positioned at approximately 47.240° North latitude and 122.354° West longitude. The city covers about 5.83 square miles, or 15.10 square kilometers, of land. The 2020 Census recorded 10,999 residents, while the 2023 population estimate was about 11,200. Fife stands at an elevation of roughly 30 feet above sea level. The city sits near the Puyallup River delta, where the river reaches Commencement Bay and Puget Sound. Fife's flat terrain and location beside Interstate 5 helped it develop as a major transportation and industrial center.
