It lies in the South Puget Sound region, about 4 miles southwest of downtown Tacoma, 3 miles east of University Place, and roughly 35 miles southwest of Seattle. Fircrest is positioned at approximately 47.240° North latitude and 122.516° West longitude. The city covers about 1.58 square miles, or 4.09 square kilometers, of land. The 2020 Census recorded 7,957 residents, while the 2023 population estimate was about 8,000. Fircrest stands at an elevation of roughly 230 feet above sea level. The community was planned as a residential suburb in the early 20th century and retains a strong neighborhood character with tree-lined streets and established homes.
