It lies in central Genesee County, about 8 miles northwest of downtown Flint, 7 miles west of Mount Morris, and roughly 50 miles north of Lansing. Flushing is positioned at approximately 43.063° North latitude and 83.851° West longitude. The city covers about 2.71 square miles, or 7.02 square kilometers, of land. The 2020 Census recorded 8,389 residents, while recent estimates place the population at about 8,400. Flushing stands at an elevation of roughly 750 feet above sea level.
