Grand Ledge is a city located in Eaton County, Michigan, the United States. It lies in central Michigan along the Grand River, about 10 miles west of Lansing and roughly 70 miles northwest of Detroit. Grand Ledge is part of the Lansing metropolitan area and has convenient access to Interstate 96 and U.S. Route 127. The city is located at approximately 42.754° North latitude and 84.747° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 7,753 residents. Grand Ledge covers about 4.30 square miles, or 11.14 square kilometers, including land and water. The community was settled in the 1830s and incorporated as a city in 1893. Grand Ledge is especially known for its sandstone ledges along the Grand River, which rise above the surrounding landscape. Island Park, Fitzgerald Park, and the Grand Ledge Historic District are among its notable attractions. The nearby ledges also have a long history of climbing and outdoor recreation.
