Grosse Pointe is a city located in Wayne County, Michigan, the United States. It lies along the western shore of Lake St. Clair in southeastern Michigan, about 8 miles northeast of downtown Detroit and roughly 10 miles southwest of the St. Clair River. Grosse Pointe is part of the Detroit metropolitan area and is one of the communities collectively known as the Grosse Pointes. The city is located at approximately 42.386° North latitude and 82.911° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 5,678 residents. Grosse Pointe covers about 1.10 square miles, or 2.85 square kilometers, including land and water. The community developed as a lakeside residential suburb and was incorporated as a city in 1934. Its location beside Lake St. Clair is one of its defining features. The city has a historic residential character, mature trees, and several waterfront areas.
