Lake City is a city located in Florence County, South Carolina, the United States. It lies in the Pee Dee region of eastern South Carolina, about 20 miles south of Florence and roughly 75 miles northwest of Charleston. The city is located at approximately 33.872° North latitude and 79.756° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 6,630 residents, and Lake City covers about 4.35 square miles (11.27 sq km). The community was originally known as Graham's Turnout and later became known as Lake City. Agriculture has played a major role in its history, with tobacco, cotton, and other crops shaping the local economy.
