Margaret is located at approximately 33.703° North latitude and 86.477° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 5,588 residents, and the city covers about 10.10 square miles (26.16 sq km). Margaret was incorporated as a town in 1960 and later became a city. The community developed from a rural settlement surrounded by farms and wooded hills and has grown as the Birmingham metropolitan area expanded eastward. Today, Margaret is primarily residential, with newer neighborhoods alongside older rural landscapes.
