Melvindale is a city located in Wayne County, Michigan, the United States. It lies in southeastern Michigan, about 8 miles southwest of downtown Detroit and roughly 5 miles east of Dearborn. Melvindale is located at approximately 42.282° North latitude and 83.175° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 10,273 residents, and the city covers about 2.76 square miles (7.15 sq km). Melvindale was incorporated as a city in 1933 and developed during the growth of Detroit's automobile and manufacturing industries.
