Where is Midfield Located?
Midfield is a city located in Jefferson County, Alabama, the United States. It lies in central Alabama, about 6 miles west of downtown Birmingham and roughly 15 miles southeast of Bessemer. Midfield is located at approximately 33.462° North latitude and 86.923° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 5,003 residents, and the city covers about 2.44 square miles (6.32 sq km). Midfield developed during the growth of Birmingham's industrial economy and was incorporated as a city in 1950. The surrounding Jefferson County area became a major center for coal mining, iron production, steel manufacturing, and related industries during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Midfield's location near these industrial centers helped shape its development as a residential community. Today, the city has established neighborhoods, schools, churches, local businesses, parks, and community facilities.
