Newberry is a city located in Newberry County, South Carolina, the United States. It lies in the South Carolina Midlands, about 45 miles west of Columbia and roughly 35 miles southeast of Greenville. Laurens is about 25 miles northwest, while Clinton is around 20 miles north. Newberry is positioned near 34.275° North latitude and 81.619° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 10,691 residents. The city has about 8.99 square miles, or 23.28 square kilometers, of land area. Newberry Opera House is one of the city's best-known landmarks and serves as a historic performing arts venue in the downtown area.
