Pinson is a city located in Jefferson County, Alabama, the United States. It lies in north-central Alabama, about 15 miles northeast of downtown Birmingham and roughly 10 miles northwest of Trussville. Clay is around 8 miles southeast, while Center Point is about 6 miles south. Pinson is positioned near 33.688° North latitude and 86.683° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 7,163 residents. The city covers about 7.58 square miles, or 19.63 square kilometers. Pinson is part of the greater Birmingham metropolitan area but retains a landscape of wooded hills, streams, and open spaces. The area has a long human history, including archaeological evidence associated with Native American communities. The Pinson Mounds Archaeological Park preserves several ancient Native American earthworks and is one of the most important archaeological sites in Alabama.
