Plymouth is a city located in Wayne County, Michigan, the United States. It lies in southeastern Michigan, about 25 miles west of downtown Detroit and roughly 25 miles east of Ann Arbor. Northville is around 5 miles north, while Canton is about 5 miles south. Plymouth is positioned near 42.371° North latitude and 83.470° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 9,170 residents. The city covers about 2.22 square miles, or 5.75 square kilometers. Plymouth was settled in the 1820s and incorporated as a village in 1867 before becoming a city in 1932. The community grew as a small agricultural and railroad center and later became part of the expanding Detroit suburban region. Downtown Plymouth remains the heart of the community, with historic buildings surrounding Kellogg Park and a traditional town square atmosphere. The city hosts popular community events throughout the year, including the Plymouth Ice Festival and Art in the Park.
