Where is Riverview Located?
Riverview is a city located in Wayne County, Michigan, the United States. It lies in the Downriver area of southeast Michigan along the Detroit River, about 12 miles southwest of downtown Detroit and roughly 10 miles north of Monroe. Trenton is around 5 miles south, while Wyandotte is about 4 miles north. Riverview is positioned near 42.174° North latitude and 83.179° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 11,490 residents. The city covers about 4.84 square miles, or 12.54 square kilometers. Riverview developed from a rural river community and was incorporated as a village in 1923 before becoming a city in 1959. Its location beside the Detroit River helped shape local industry, transportation, and recreation. The community grew rapidly during the 20th century as the Detroit metropolitan area expanded and automobile manufacturing became a major part of the regional economy. A unique feature of Riverview is its position along the Detroit River, with views and access to one of the busiest international waterways in North America.
