It lies in central Michigan's Lower Peninsula, about 20 miles west of Mount Pleasant and roughly 40 miles northeast of Lansing. Alma is about 10 miles north, while Ithaca is approximately 15 miles southwest of St. Louis. The city is located at 43.4084° North latitude and 84.6067° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 6,434 residents. St. Louis covers about 3.46 square miles, or approximately 8.96 square kilometers. The Pine River flows through the community and is an important geographic feature.
