Tarrant is a city located in Jefferson County, Alabama, the United States. It lies in central Alabama, about 6 miles northeast of downtown Birmingham and roughly 10 miles south of Gardendale. Center Point is about 7 miles east, while Irondale is approximately 8 miles southeast of Tarrant. The city is located at 33.5843° North latitude and 86.7681° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 5,000 residents. Tarrant covers about 6.17 square miles, or approximately 15.98 square kilometers. The city developed as an industrial community during the growth of Birmingham's steel and manufacturing industries. Village Creek passes through the area and is part of the local landscape.
