It lies in the Upstate region of northwestern South Carolina, about 10 miles northwest of Greenville and roughly 30 miles southeast of Hendersonville, North Carolina. Greer is about 10 miles east, while Easley is approximately 15 miles southwest of Travelers Rest. The city is located at 34.9671° North latitude and 82.4435° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 7,788 residents. Travelers Rest covers about 6.10 square miles, or approximately 15.80 square kilometers. The surrounding landscape includes wooded hills, creeks, farmland, and mountain foothills that rise toward the Blue Ridge Mountains.
