Union is a city located in Montgomery County and Miami County, Ohio, the United States. The city is in the Miami Valley in southwestern Ohio, about 14 miles north of Dayton and close to the cities of Englewood and Clayton. Union lies at approximately 39.927° North latitude and 84.597° West longitude. The city had 6,859 residents in the 2020 Census and has about 8.38 square miles of total area, including approximately 8.30 square miles of land. Union was founded in 1806, platted in 1816, and became an official city in 1982. The Stillwater River is an important geographic feature near the community. Local parks and green spaces are also part of the city's character. Union's location near Interstate 70 and Interstate 75 provides convenient access to Dayton and other communities throughout the Miami Valley.
