Woodhaven is a city located in Wayne County, Michigan, the United States. It is in southeastern Michigan's Downriver area, about 20 miles southwest of downtown Detroit, 5 miles west of the Detroit River, and approximately 10 miles north of Monroe. Woodhaven lies at approximately 42.138° North latitude and 83.241° West longitude. The city had 12,941 residents in the 2020 Census and covers about 6.45 square miles, or 16.71 square kilometers. Woodhaven was incorporated as a city in 1969 after developing from rural farmland into a suburban community during the expansion of the Detroit metropolitan area. The city is largely residential, with commercial areas and industrial development along major transportation routes. Its location in the Downriver region places it close to the Detroit River, Lake Erie, and several large regional parks. Nearby outdoor destinations include Elizabeth Park, Lake Erie Metropark, and the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge.
