Where is Woodland Located?

Woodland is a city located in Cowlitz County, Washington, the United States. It is in southwestern Washington along the Lewis River near its confluence with the Columbia River, about 25 miles north of Vancouver, 30 miles north of Portland, Oregon, and approximately 15 miles south of Kelso. Woodland lies at approximately 45.904° North latitude and 122.743° West longitude. The city had 6,531 residents in the 2020 Census and covers about 3.55 square miles, or 9.19 square kilometers. Woodland was incorporated in 1906 and developed as a farming, logging, and transportation community. Its location near the Lewis and Columbia rivers supported early agriculture, timber operations, shipping, and trade. Today, the surrounding area includes farms, wetlands, forests, and river landscapes. Woodland is also known for its proximity to Horseshoe Lake, Lewis River recreation areas, and the Mount St. Helens region. The city provides convenient access to outdoor destinations in southwestern Washington and northern Oregon. Interstate 5 passes directly through Woodland and provides major transportation connections to Vancouver, Portland, Longview, and Seattle. Washington State Route 503 also connects Woodland with communities along the Lewis River and foothills toward Mount St. Helens.
