Wyandotte is a city located in Wayne County, Michigan, the United States. It is in southeastern Michigan along the western bank of the Detroit River, about 12 miles southwest of downtown Detroit, 5 miles north of Trenton, and approximately 20 miles northeast of Monroe. Wyandotte lies at approximately 42.205° North latitude and 83.149° West longitude. The city had 25,058 residents in the 2020 Census and covers about 5.27 square miles, or 13.65 square kilometers. Wyandotte was incorporated as a city in 1867 and developed into an important industrial community because of its location along the Detroit River. Shipbuilding, chemical manufacturing, steel, and other industries played major roles in the city's economic history. Today, Wyandotte combines established residential neighborhoods with a historic downtown, commercial areas, parks, and a riverfront district. The Detroit River provides scenic views and opportunities for boating, fishing, and waterfront recreation.
