Allegan is a city located in Allegan County, Michigan, the United States. The city is situated along the Kalamazoo River in western Michigan, approximately 25 miles (40 km) south of Grand Rapids, 30 miles (48 km) west of Kalamazoo, and about 20 miles (32 km) southeast of Holland. Allegan is located at 42.5292° North latitude and 85.8553° West longitude. According to the 2020 United States Census, the city had a population of 5,248. Allegan covers approximately 2.57 square miles (6.66 sq km). The city is widely recognized for the Allegan County Fair, a tradition dating back to the mid-1800s, and for its scenic riverfront, historic architecture, and nearby outdoor recreation areas.
