Aurora is a city located primarily in Kane County and DuPage County, with portions extending into Kendall County and Will County, Illinois, the United States. The city lies along the Fox River in northeastern Illinois, approximately 15 miles (24 km) west of Naperville, 40 miles (64 km) west of downtown Chicago, and about 35 miles (56 km) east of DeKalb. Aurora is located at 41.7606° North latitude and 88.3201° West longitude. According to the 2020 United States Census, the city had a population of 180,542. Aurora covers approximately 46.46 square miles (120.33 sq km).
