Framingham is a city located in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, the United States. It lies in the MetroWest region of eastern Massachusetts, about 20 miles west of downtown Boston, 10 miles east of Worcester, and roughly 15 miles north of the Rhode Island border. Framingham is positioned at approximately 42.280° North latitude and 71.417° West longitude. The city covers about 25.08 square miles, or 64.95 square kilometers, including land and water. The 2020 Census recorded 72,362 residents, making Framingham one of the largest communities in the MetroWest area. Recent estimates place the population at about 74,000. The city has a varied landscape of residential neighborhoods, commercial districts, ponds, wooded areas, and historic sites. Framingham dates to 1700 and was named a city in 2017.
