Where is Margate City Located?

Margate City is a city located in Atlantic County, New Jersey, the United States. It lies on Absecon Island along the Atlantic Ocean, about 5 miles south of Atlantic City and roughly 10 miles northeast of Ocean City. Margate City is located at approximately 39.328° North latitude and 74.509° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 6,037 residents, and the city covers about 1.78 square miles (4.61 sq km), including its coastal waters. Margate was incorporated as a city in 1885 and developed as a seaside resort community during the late 19th century. Its location on Absecon Island helped attract visitors seeking beaches, ocean views, and summer recreation. Today, Margate City has a dense residential pattern, local businesses, restaurants, and a broad sandy beach along the Atlantic Ocean. Unlike neighboring Atlantic City, Margate does not have a traditional boardwalk, giving its shoreline a quieter character.
