Norton Shores is a city located in Muskegon County, Michigan, the United States. It lies along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan, about 5 miles south of Muskegon and roughly 40 miles northwest of Grand Rapids. Roosevelt Park is about 3 miles north, while Fruitport is around 5 miles east. Norton Shores is positioned near 43.168° North latitude and 86.263° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 25,794 residents. The city covers about 24.73 square miles, or 64.05 square kilometers, including land and water. Lake Michigan forms the city's western edge and provides beaches, dunes, boating, fishing, and scenic views. Mona Lake is another important geographic feature and offers boating and waterfront recreation. Hoffmaster State Park, located along the lakeshore just south of the city, is known for sand dunes, hiking trails, and Lake Michigan beaches. Norton Shores developed from several rural settlements and was incorporated as a city in 1955.
