Owosso is a city located in Shiawassee County, Michigan, the United States. It lies in central Michigan along the Shiawassee River, about 30 miles east of Lansing and roughly 25 miles north of Flint. Perry is about 10 miles west, while Corunna is around 3 miles south. Owosso is positioned near 42.998° North latitude and 84.176° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 14,141 residents. The city covers about 16.77 square miles, or 43.43 square kilometers. Owosso grew as a transportation and manufacturing center, with the railroad and river playing important roles in its development. The city's best-known landmark is Curwood Castle, a historic stone and concrete castle built for author James Oliver Curwood.
