Rochester is a city located in Oakland County, Michigan, the United States. It lies in southeast Michigan along the Clinton River, about 25 miles north of downtown Detroit and roughly 10 miles east of Pontiac. Rochester Hills surrounds much of the city, while Troy is about 8 miles south. Rochester is positioned near 42.680° North latitude and 83.133° West longitude. Rochester was settled in the early 19th century and incorporated as a village in 1869 before becoming a city in 1966.
