Weymouth is a town located in Norfolk County, Massachusetts, the United States. It is on the South Shore, about 12 miles southeast of downtown Boston, 8 miles north of Hingham, and approximately 10 miles northeast of Braintree. Weymouth lies at approximately 42.218° North latitude and 70.939° West longitude. The town had 57,437 residents in the 2020 Census and covers about 21.61 square miles, or 55.97 square kilometers. Weymouth was settled in 1622 and incorporated as a town in 1635, making it one of the oldest communities in Massachusetts. Its location along the Fore River and Back River helped shape its maritime, industrial, and transportation history. The town includes several historic districts and neighborhoods, along with beaches, parks, wetlands, and waterfront areas. Wessagusset Beach is one of the town's popular coastal recreation sites, while Webb Memorial State Park offers trails and views across Boston Harbor.
