Wixom is a city located in Oakland County, Michigan, the United States. It is in southeastern Michigan, about 30 miles northwest of downtown Detroit, 5 miles west of Novi, and approximately 5 miles south of Milford. Wixom lies at approximately 42.525° North latitude and 83.537° West longitude. The city had 17,193 residents in the 2020 Census and covers about 9.36 square miles, or 24.24 square kilometers. Wixom was incorporated as a village in 1957 and became a city in 1971. Its development was influenced by the expansion of the Detroit metropolitan area, transportation networks, manufacturing, and industrial development. Today, Wixom has a mix of residential neighborhoods, commercial districts, and large industrial and technology parks. The surrounding landscape includes lakes, wetlands, wooded areas, and rolling terrain typical of southeastern Michigan.
