Aberdeen is a city located in Harford County, Maryland, the United States. The city lies in northeastern Maryland, around 30 miles (48 km) northeast of Baltimore, about 55 miles (89 km) southwest of Wilmington, Delaware, and roughly 70 miles (113 km) northeast of Washington, D.C. Aberdeen is located at 39.5096° North latitude and 76.1641° West longitude. According to the 2020 United States Census, the city had a population of 16,254. Aberdeen covers about 6.78 square miles (17.56 sq km). The city is widely recognized for Aberdeen Proving Ground, a major U.S. Army installation established in 1917. Its location along Interstate 95 and the Northeast Corridor rail line has made Aberdeen an important transportation and military community for more than a century.
