Cambridge is located at approximately 38.5632° North latitude and 76.0788° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 13,096 residents, and the city covers about 12.64 square miles (32.74 sq km). The Choptank River waterfront is one of the city's most prominent geographic and recreational features. Cambridge was founded in 1684 and incorporated in 1793, making it one of Maryland's oldest cities.
