Kilgore is a city located in Gregg County in the U.S. state of Texas, United States. The city was established in the late nineteenth century and was named after Constantine Buckley Kilgore, a lawyer and Confederate veteran. Kilgore became widely known during the 1930s East Texas oil boom and developed as an important center for the petroleum industry in the region.
