Lock Haven is a city located in Clinton County, Pennsylvania, the United States. It lies in north-central Pennsylvania along the West Branch Susquehanna River, about 25 miles southwest of Williamsport and roughly 40 miles northeast of State College. The city is located at approximately 41.137° North latitude and 77.451° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 8,235 residents, and Lock Haven covers about 2.07 square miles (5.36 sq km). The community was founded in 1833 and developed as a lumber, canal, river, and railroad center. Lock Haven became the county seat of Clinton County and grew rapidly during the region's lumber era. The Susquehanna River remains an important geographic feature and provides opportunities for fishing, boating, kayaking, and scenic recreation. Piper Aviation Museum is one of the city's best-known attractions and preserves the history of Piper Aircraft, which was once based in Lock Haven.
