DuBois is a city located in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, the United States. It is situated in north-central Pennsylvania within the Allegheny Mountains, about 100 miles northeast of Pittsburgh and approximately 70 miles northwest of Altoona. DuBois lies at about 41.12° North latitude and 78.76° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 7,478 residents. The city covers approximately 3.11 square miles (8.05 square kilometers), with most of the area consisting of land. DuBois developed in the late 19th century after coal deposits and railroads attracted workers and businesses to the area. The community was named for John R. DuBois, an industrialist who helped develop the region's lumber and manufacturing industries. The city was incorporated in 1881 and later became an important regional center.
