Duquesne is a city located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, the United States. It is situated along the Monongahela River in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area, about 10 miles southeast of downtown Pittsburgh and approximately 6 miles southwest of Monroeville. Duquesne lies at about 40.38° North latitude and 79.86° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 5,249 residents. The city covers approximately 2.02 square miles (5.23 square kilometers), including about 1.86 square miles of land and 0.16 square miles of water. Duquesne grew rapidly during the late 19th and early 20th centuries as iron and steel production expanded along the Monongahela River. The city was incorporated as a borough in 1891 and became a city in 1918. Its industrial history remains an important part of its identity.
