Where is Lebanon Located?

Lebanon is a city located in Laclede County, Missouri, the United States. It lies in central Missouri between the Ozark Plateau and the Lake of the Ozarks region, about 50 miles northeast of Springfield and roughly 55 miles southeast of Jefferson City. The city is located at approximately 37.680° North latitude and 92.664° West longitude. The 2020 Census recorded 14,474 residents, and Lebanon covers about 14.62 square miles (37.86 sq km). The community was founded in 1849 and named for Lebanon, Tennessee, the former home of many early settlers. Lebanon became the county seat of Laclede County and grew as an agricultural, commercial, and transportation center. The arrival of Route 66 brought new businesses, travelers, and roadside attractions to the city during the 20th century. The Route 66 Museum is one of Lebanon's best-known attractions and preserves the history of the famous highway and its role in local life. Bennett Spring State Park, located west of the city, is known for trout fishing, clear spring water, hiking, camping, and wooded scenery. A unique feature of Lebanon is its connection to the original U.S. Route 66, which passed directly through the community.
